BRIEF HISTORY OF AKINLOOYE MODEL COLLEGE

Akinlooye Model College, located in the historic city of Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria, has a rich and fascinating history that spans over two and a half decades.

The seeds of the college were sown in September 1996, when a visionary parent suggested that the few Primary 5 pupils at the time could be used to start a secondary school. This innovative idea was seized upon by the founders, who were determined to provide quality education to the children of Ile-Ife and its environs.

With a humble beginning of just a handful of students, Akinlooye Model College has grown steadily over the years, evolving into a reputable and comprehensive co-educational day school. The college has remained committed to its founding principles of providing a holistic education that combines academic excellence with moral and spiritual growth.

Throughout its history, Akinlooye Model College has continued to expand its facilities, curriculum, and extracurricular activities to meet the changing needs of its students. Today, the college boasts modern infrastructure, state-of-the-art facilities, and a team of dedicated and experienced educators who are passionate about helping students achieve their full potential.

Our Milestones
  • September 1996: Akinlooye Model College is established with a handful of Primary 5 pupils.
  • 1997: The college admits its first set of Junior Secondary School (JSS) students.
  • 2000: The college expands its facilities to accommodate a growing student population.
  • 2001, Akinlooye Model College moved to her permanent site at Odi-Eredumi, Oke-Atan, Ile-Ife
  • 2002: Akinlooye Model College becomes a comprehensive co-educational day school.
  • 2004, Akinlooye Model College was approved by the Ministry of Education , Osun State to write the first Junior Secondary School Examinations.
  • 2006, Akinlooye Model College wrote the first West African Examinations Council papers and National Examination Council papers
  • 2008, Akinlooye Model College had her first school interhouse sports competition.
  • 2010: The college introduces new extracurricular activities and sports programs.
  • 2011, Akinlooye Model College won the third place in Ife East local government football competitions
  • 2011, Akinlooye Model College went on excursion to Bar Beach, Lagos, Zoological Garden University of Ibadan, Ibadan Nigeria, and a farm in Osogbo
  • 2012, Akinlooye Model College won first position in Junior Mathematics Competition in Ife East local government and second position in mathematics competition in senior category.
  • 2015: Akinlooye Model College celebrates its 20th anniversary.
  • 2018, Akinlooye Model College went on a mega excursion to 7Up Bottling Company, Ibadan, Amusement Park in Ibadan and  National Museum in Ibadan.
  • Present day: The college continues to thrive, with a strong focus on academic excellence, moral integrity, and spiritual growth.
